BR 2-02: The Gingerbread Boy

He knew the gingerbread boy would make a good snack. (P.18)

I was very hungry when I looked the early stages of this book’s picture that a little old woman made a boy out of gingerbread. I thought that this book was for little children when I read it until on the way. But I thought that it wasn’t for little children because the climax of it was too merciless. The gingerbread boy ran out of the little old house and ran on and on until he came to a river. Then a fox was running by and saw the gingerbread boy. And fox said to the gingerbread boy, “I’ll help you cross the river. Sit on my tail.” This was the beginning of tragedy. Finally, the gingerbread boy was eaten by a fox. I was shocked that it was too merciless. I was sure that this story would be finished in happy end because the picture was cute. But I thought that the writer wanted to tell our readers was children should obey what their parents tell them and never believe and follow unknown people. There are very important things for little children. Maybe they should read this book but the climax is merciless for them. But there are kidnappings in recent years. In other words, a fox in the story of this book, figuratively speaking, a kidnapper. I thought that this book was the most suitable for little children to tell terror of kidnapping. If someday I would be got married and gave birth to a baby and grew up in the future, I would like to read to my little child.

BR 2-01: How elephants lost their wings

But they didn’t get their wings back and they never flew again. (P.22, 23)

Why I picked this book up, because the pictures the cover and contents are very cute. And back some pages have five puzzles like an addition. They were very cute and healed my heart. The content of this book was very deep but at first sight it was very superficial like that little children read. The most important story that the writer wanted to tell our readers was above all else, not get carried away in our life. It is my point of view about this book. An elephants that has wings got carried away and broke the trees and destroyed houses. It was a situation about which one could not help being concerned. And gods lost wings of an elephants. I learned an important thing from this book. It is that should not get carried away in one’s life. If it gets carried away, surely it is going to be lost one’s precious things and serves one’s life. I thought that take these warning to heart because I also get carried away soon too. So, there are lots of misunderstanding and jumping to a wrong conclusion in myself. And they are connected with lots of failure and loss for me. As a result, I have been suffered a loss ever because I get carried away. I’m often paid attention from my mother “You are weak in modesty”, “Above all else, conduct yourself more modesty” and “Don’t be proud and arrogant”. I always let my mother’s advices go in one ear and out the ear when she paid attention to me. But I understand now. I’m going to spend on my life with taking her warnings to heart.

BR:1-17 The Clowns With Frowns Parade

All the clowns have frowns painted on their faces today. (p.14)

This time, I read the book about clowns. I read it because the picture of this book was very cute. Clown is “Piero” in Japanese. Have you ever seen it at parade and circus? Maybe, I have seen clowns. Almost of them have sad faces. Some clowns have funny faces. When I looked them for the first time, I was very afraid of them. It was when I was in the elementary school. Have you thought so too? Didn’t you cry to look them? Maybe, I cried. But I think that they are very wonderful as they have various skills. Why so big tall? Why can the clown ride on the wheel bike with one wheel? Their skills are the result of effort. They announce very wonderful skills to please a large audience. It’s very wonderful job.
